The verse highlights traits of mature spiritual orientation: exclusive, unwavering devotion to the Lord, preference for solitude and purity of place, and non-attachment to worldly-minded social company—indicating a mind steadily aligned with dharma and inner discipline.
In the Bhishma Parva context, Arjuna is engaged in a dialogue about right conduct and inner qualities; here he articulates (as a spoken line in the presented text) the characteristics associated with steadfast devotion and renunciant temperament amid the pressures of worldly life.
