सम्बन्ध-- आत्मतत्त्व अत्यन्त दुर्बोध होनेके कारण उसे समझानेके लिये भगवान्‌ने उपर्युक्त शलोकोद्वारा भिन्न-भिन्न प्रकारसे उसके स्वरूपका वर्णन किया: अब अगले शलोकमें उस आत्मतत्त्वके दर्शन

āścaryavat paśyati kaścid enam āścaryavad vadati tathaiva cānyaḥ | āścaryavac cainam anyaḥ śṛṇoti śrutvāpy enaṁ veda na caiva kaścit ||

قال سَنْجَايَا: بين الناس، لا يرى هذا «الذات» على أنه عجبٌ إلا نفسٌ عظيمة نادرة؛ ونفسٌ أخرى نادرة كذلك تتكلم عنه على أنه عجب؛ ونفسٌ ثالثة نادرة تسمع عنه على أنه عجب. ولكن كثيرين، حتى بعد السماع، لا يعرفونه حقّ المعرفة—فحقيقة الذات دقيقة لطيفة عسيرة الإدراك.
