निवारयामास शरै: सम॑ संनतपर्वभि: । सत्यपराक्रमी भीष्म युद्धस्थलमें अन्य सब राजाओं-द्वारा छोड़े हुए बाणोंका झुकी हुई गाँठवाले अपने बाणोंद्वारा तुरंत ही निवारण कर देते थे || ४८ ह ।।

nivārayāmāsa śaraiḥ samaṃ sannatapārva-bhiḥ |
śikhaṇḍī tu raṇe bāṇān yān mumoca mahārathaḥ ||
قال سنجيا: بسهامه هو—ذات المفاصل المنحنية—كان بهيشما، الثابت في بسالة الحق، يصدّ في الحال ويُبطل وابل السهام الذي أطلقه سائر الملوك في ساحة القتال. وفي الوقت نفسه كان شيكاندي، المحارب العظيم على العربة، يطلق السهام التي رماها في المعركة.
