Bhīmasena’s Engagement with Multiple Mahārathas
यतो भीष्मस्ततो राजन दुष्प्रेक्ष्यो रश्मिवानिव । राजन्! तब भगवान् श्रीकृष्णने चाँदीके समान श्वेत वर्णवाले घोड़ोंको उसी ओर हाँका, जहाँ अंशुमाली सूर्यके समान दुर्निरीक्ष्य भीष्म युद्ध कर रहे थे || ४० हू ।। ततस्तत् पुनरावृत्तं युधिष्तचिरबलं महत्
sañjaya uvāca | yato bhīṣmas tato rājan duṣprekṣyo raśmivān iva | rājan! tadā bhagavān śrīkṛṣṇena cāndīke samānaśveta-varṇavāle ghōṛoṅko usī ora hāṅkā, jahāṅ aṃśumālī sūrya ke samāna durnirīkṣya bhīṣma yuddha kar rahe the ||
قال سانجيا: «يا أيها الملك، حيثما كان بهيشما قائمًا بدا عسيرَ النظر، متوهّجًا كالشمس بأشعتها. ثم إنّ الربّ المبارك كريشنا ساق الخيول البيضاء اللامعة كالفِضّة نحو تلك الجهة بعينها، حيث كان بهيشما يقاتل، مُبهِرًا كالشمس المشعّة.»
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical gravity of dharma-yuddha: even when an opponent is awe-inspiring and seemingly invincible, one must face the challenge with steadiness and right guidance. Krishna’s deliberate steering toward Bhishma symbolizes purposeful engagement with duty rather than avoidance of fearsome power.
Sanjaya describes Bhishma’s battlefield presence as sun-like and difficult to behold. Krishna, acting as charioteer, drives the white horses toward the sector where Bhishma is fighting, indicating a direct approach toward the Kaurava commander in the thick of battle.
