Aśvamedha-dīkṣā, Vyāsa’s horse-release, and Arjuna’s departure with Gāṇḍīva (आश्वमेधिक-दीक्षा तथा हय-उत्सर्गः)
न्यवेदयदमेयात्मा कृष्णद्वैपायनाय वै | राजेन्द्र! उन्होंने मनमें जिन-जिन सामानोंको एकत्र करनेका संकल्प किया था
nyavedayad ameyātmā kṛṣṇadvaipāyanāya vai | rājendra! manasi yān yān sāmagrīṃ samāhartum asaṅkalpayat, tān sarvān saṃgṛhya dharmaputro ’meyātmā rājā yudhiṣṭhiraḥ śrīkṛṣṇadvaipāyanaṃ vyāsaṃ nyavedayat || tato ’bravīn mahātejā vyāso dharmātmajaṃ nṛpam ||
قال فَيْشَمْبَايَنَة: «يا خيرَ الملوك! إن يودهيشثيرا، عظيمَ النفس، ابنَ دارما، بعدما جمعَ جميعَ اللوازم التي عزم في قلبه على جمعها، أعلمَ بها شري كريشنا-دْوَيْبَايَنَة فياسا. فحينئذٍ خاطبَ فياسا ذو البأس والضياء ذلك الأميرَ البارَّ.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A ruler’s dharma includes disciplined preparation and transparent consultation with wise authorities. Yudhiṣṭhira’s act of gathering the needed requisites and then informing Vyāsa models accountable leadership guided by spiritual counsel.
Yudhiṣṭhira completes the collection of the materials he had resolved to assemble (in the context of the ongoing royal-sacrificial preparations) and reports this readiness to Vyāsa; Vyāsa then begins to speak to him.
