यद् दुर्लभं हि लोकेडस्मिन् रत्नमत्यद्भुतं महत् | तदानयेयं तपसा न हि मे<त्रास्ति संशय:
yad durlabhaṁ hi loke 'smin ratnam atyadbhutaṁ mahat | tad ānaye'yaṁ tapasā na hi me 'trāsti saṁśayaḥ ||
قال غوتَما: «أيُّ جوهرةٍ في هذا العالم، مهما بلغت من الندرة والعجب والعظمة، أستطيع أن آتي بها بقوة الزهد والتقشّف (tapas). ولا شكّ عندي في ذلك.»
