Mind as Charioteer; Kṣetrajña, Tapas, and Dhyāna-Yoga

Adhyātma-Upadeśa

रथेन रथिनं पश्य क्लिश्यमानमचेतनम्‌

rathena rathinaṃ paśya kliśyamānam acetanam | yāvat rathasya gatiḥ panthāḥ tāvat rathena gacchati buddhimān | yatra rathasya mārgaḥ samāpyate tatra taṃ tyaktvā padbhyā yātrāṃ karoti ||

قال فايُو: «انظر إلى الأحمق: مع أنه يُحمَل في عربة، فإنه ما إن يبلغ الجبل الشديد الانحدار حتى يظل يتكابد العناء. أمّا الحكيم فيسير بالعربة ما دام الطريق يسمح؛ فإذا انتهى طريق العربة تركها ومضى على قدميه». والعبرة أن تُستعمل الوسائل والأدوات في موضعها: فلا يُتعلَّق بها خارج نطاقها، ولا تُرفَض حين تكون نافعة.
