Discourse on Desire, Possessiveness, and Ritual Duty
तस्मात्त्वमपि तं काम॑ यज्ैविविधदक्षिणै: । धर्मे कुरु महाराज तत्र ते स भविष्यति,अतः महाराज! आप भी नाना प्रकारकी दक्षिणावाले यज्ञोंद्वारा अपनी उस कामनाको धर्ममें लगा दीजिये। वहाँ आपकी वह कामना सफल होगी
tasmāt tvam api taṃ kāmaṃ yajñair vividha-dakṣiṇaiḥ | dharme kuru mahārāja tatra te sa bhaviṣyati ||
لذلك، أيها الملك العظيم، وجِّه رغبتك أنت أيضًا إلى الدارما، وذلك بإقامة القرابين المصحوبة بعطايا شتّى للكهنة القائمين بالشعائر. فهناك، في طريق الاستقامة، تتحقق أمنيتك حقًّا.
वायुदेव उवाच
Desire should not be pursued by unrighteous means; it should be redirected into dharma. Performing yajñas with proper generosity (dakṣiṇā) is presented as an ethical way to sublimate personal aims into socially and spiritually constructive action.
Vāyudeva addresses a king, advising him to fulfill his aspiration by undertaking sacrifices accompanied by appropriate and varied gifts, emphasizing that success is assured when the wish is pursued within dharma.
