Marutta’s Sacrifice: Indra’s Threat, Saṃvarta’s Mantric Restraint, and Divine Reconciliation (अध्याय १०)

ततो देवै: सहितो देवराजो रथे युड्क्‍्त्वा तान्‌ हरीन्‌ वाजिमुख्यान्‌ । आयाद्‌ यज्ञमथ राज्ञ: पिपासु- राविक्षितस्याप्रमेयस्थ सोमम्‌

tato devaiḥ sahito devarājo rathe yuktvā tān harīn vājimukhyān | āyād yajñam atha rājñaḥ pipāsur āvikṣitasyāprameyastha somam ||

ثم إنَّ إندرا، ملكَ الآلهة، وقد صحبه سائرُ الأرباب، شدَّ إلى عربته تلك الجيادَ الأوائل ذاتَ البياض الموشّى بصفرةٍ خفيفة. وإذ كان ظمآنَ إلى شربِ السُّوما، أتى إلى شعيرةِ القربان التي يقيمها الملكُ ماروتّا، ابنُ أفيكشِت، ذو البأس الذي لا يُقاس—فدخل ميدانًا يلتقي فيه امتيازُ السماء بجدارةِ المُلك، وتُختبر فيه أخلاقُ إكرامِ ذبيحةٍ مستحقّة.
