Āśramamaṇḍala-darśana and Ṛṣi-samāgama

Observation of the Hermitage Precinct and the Assembly of Sages

iti śrīmahābhārate āśramavāsike parvaṇi putradarśanaparvaṇi janamejayasya svapitṛdarśane pañcatriṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ

Educational Q&A

The colophon highlights the ethical importance of remembering and honoring one’s lineage: after great upheaval, dharma is sustained through reverence for ancestors, truthful transmission of history, and awareness of continuity between generations.

This line is a concluding colophon: it marks the end of a chapter in the Āśramavāsika Parva, specifying that the chapter concerned Janamejaya’s vision of his forefathers within the ‘Vision of the Sons’ sub-section.
