Educational Q&A

That certain gifts or practices, when established and propagated, produce ‘akṣayya’ (imperishable) merit—especially when performed on all auspicious, merit-generating occasions—highlighting the Mahābhārata’s emphasis on dāna as a durable ethical and spiritual investment.

Sūrya, speaking within the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction on dharma, declares that from that day forward these two items/practices will become current in the world, and that donating them at all meritorious times will grant the सर्वोत्तम and inexhaustible reward.
