Puṣkara-Śapatha Itihāsa (Agastya–Indra Dispute at the Tīrthas) | पुष्कर-शपथ-आख्यानम्
गौतम उवाच गोदमो दमतो<5धूमो5दमस्ते समदर्शनात् । विद्धि मां गौतमं कृत्ये यातुधानि निबोध माम्
gautama uvāca | godamo damato dhūmo 'damas te samadarśanāt | viddhi māṃ gautamaṃ kṛtye yātudhāni nibodha mām ||
قال غوتاما: «إنما أُدعى غوداما لأنني قهرتُ بالضبطِ ‘الغو’—أي الحواس—وأحكمتُ كبحها. أنا كالنار بلا دخان، متلألئٌ غير محجوب. ولأنني أنظر إلى الجميع بعينٍ سواء، فلن تقدرِي على إخضاعي—ولا يقدر أحد. فاعرفيني، يا كِرتيا، أني غوتاما؛ وافهميني، يا ياتودهاني.»
