Śrāddha-Kalpa: Pitṛ-Pūjā and Tithi-Phala (श्राद्धकल्पः पितृपूजा च तिथिफलम्)
ततोडग्रतस्ततः सिद्धानुपवेश्य बहूनूषीन् | तोयप्रदानात् प्रभृति कार्याण्यहमथारभम्,तदनन्तर अपने सामने बहुत-से सिद्ध-महर्षियोंको बिठाकर मैंने जलदान आदि सारे कार्य आरम्भ किये
tato ’gratas tataḥ siddhān upaveśya bahūn ṛṣīn | toyapradānāt prabhṛti kāryāṇy aham athārabham |
قال بهيشما: «ثم أجلسْتُ أمامي جماعةً من الحكماء والريشيّين الكاملين، وشرعتُ في المناسك المقررة مبتدئًا بتقديم الماء، فبدأتُ بذلك تسلسل الأعمال والواجبات على وجهه الصحيح.»
भीष्म उवाच
Dharma is enacted through orderly, respectful performance of prescribed duties: honoring accomplished sages, beginning rites with foundational acts like offering water, and proceeding step by step without neglecting proper sequence.
Bhishma describes initiating a set of ritual obligations: he first seats many Siddhas and rishis before him and then begins the ceremonial acts, starting with the offering of water, indicating the formal commencement of the rites.
