Karma-Phala Rahasya and the Ethics of Dāna (कर्मफल-रहस्यं दानधर्मश्च)
यस्यां यस्यामवस्थायां यत् करोति शुभाशुभम् | तस्यां तस्यामवस्थायां भुद्धक्ते जन्मनि जन्मनि,जिस-जिस अवस्थामें वह जो-जो शुभ या अशुभ कर्म करता है, प्रत्येक जन्मकी उसी- उसी अवस्थामें वह उसका फल भोगता है
yasyāṁ yasyām avasthāyāṁ yat karoti śubhāśubham | tasyāṁ tasyām avasthāyāṁ bhunkte janmani janmani ||
قال بهيشما: «في أيّ حالٍ أو طورٍ من أطوار الحياة يفعل المرء خيرًا أو شرًّا، فإنه في ولادةٍ بعد ولادة يذوق نتيجته في ذلك الصنف من الحال بعينه؛ وهكذا يثمر الكارما على نحوٍ يوافق الحالة التي صُنع فيها».
भीष्म उवाच
Actions (good or bad) inevitably yield results, and the experience of those results is said to correspond to the very type of condition or life-situation in which the actions were performed—across repeated births.
In Anushasana Parva, Bhishma is instructing on dharma and moral law; here he states a principle of karmic fruition, linking deeds done in particular circumstances with results experienced in analogous circumstances in future lives.
