Educational Q&A

Bhishma teaches that practical charity—such as giving firewood for cooking and warmth to virtuous Brahmins—supports dharmic life and yields success in one’s aims, strength, and social pre-eminence.

In Anuśāsana Parva, Bhishma instructs the king (Yudhiṣṭhira) on dharma and the fruits of various gifts. Here he highlights the merit and beneficial results of regularly supplying firewood to righteous Brahmins.
