Daiva–Puruṣakāra Inquiry: Fate and Human Effort

Educational Q&A

That heaven and enjoyment, steadfast commitment to dharma, and true wisdom are achieved through puruṣakāra—intentional personal effort—rather than passively waiting for fortune.

In Bhīṣma’s instruction within the Anuśāsana Parva, he underscores a practical ethical principle: sustained effort in this life yields both worldly and moral-spiritual attainments.
