इत्येतद् गोषु मे प्रोक्त माहात्म्यं भरतर्षभ । गुणैकदेशवचनं शक्यं पारायणं न तु
ity etad goṣu me proktaṃ māhātmyaṃ bharatarṣabha | guṇaikadeśavacanaṃ śakyaṃ pārāyaṇaṃ na tu ||
وهكذا، يا ثورَ آلِ بهاراتا، قد حدَّثتُك بعظمةِ الأبقار. غيرَ أن ما ذكرتُه ليس إلا بعضًا من فضائلها؛ يمكن أن يُشار إلى جزءٍ منها، أمّا استقصاءُ الكلِّ وتلاوتُه على تمامه فغيرُ ممكن.
