Human beings naturally wish for excellent and untainted offspring; therefore, when a revered authority acts in matters of progeny and ritual, one should infer deliberate ethical intention and purposeful arrangement behind the outcome.
Bhishma comments that since everyone seeks a pure and superior child, it is reasonable to conclude that the revered sage involved in this episode (connected with the preparation of a ritual offering) intentionally set conditions so that a particular result would certainly occur.
