Mataṅga–Śakra Dialogue on Tapas, Status, and Moral Qualities
na bhayebhyo bhayaṁ tasya na pāpebhyo na rājataḥ | ā deha-patanād gaṅgām upāste yaḥ pumān iha ||
Steady devotion to Gaṅgā until life’s end is presented as a dharmic support that removes fear—fear of dangers, fear of sin’s consequences, and fear of worldly authority—by grounding the devotee in purity, merit, and spiritual assurance.
A Siddha (accomplished sage) is instructing the listener by praising the fruit of Gaṅgā-upāsanā: lifelong reverence for Gaṅgā grants protection and inner fearlessness against moral, social, and political threats.
