Gaṅgā-māhātmya: Siddha–Śilavṛtti-saṃvāda and Gaṅgā-stava
iti śrīmahābhārate anuśāsanaparvaṇi dānadharmaparvaṇi brahmaghnakathane caturviṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ
As a colophon, the verse primarily marks closure, but it highlights the ethical frame of the surrounding discourse: dharma is upheld through right conduct, and grave wrongdoing such as brahmahatyā is treated as a serious moral rupture, with dāna (righteous giving) and prescribed expiations presented as key means of restoring order and purity.
This line is the formal end-marker of a chapter in the Anuśāsana Parva. It indicates that the text has concluded a chapter within the dāna-dharma section, specifically in an episode dealing with the theme of a 'brahmaghna' (one implicated in the killing of a brāhmaṇa).
