Tīrtha-vaṃśa Upadeśa: Instruction on the Fruits of Sacred Waters
brāhmaṇānāṁ gavāṁ caiva kanyānāṁ ca yudhiṣṭhira | ye ’ntaraṁ yānti kāryeṣu te vai nirayagāminaḥ ||
Do not obstruct acts undertaken for the welfare and protection of Brāhmaṇas, cows, and maidens; such interference is treated as a grave adharma with severe karmic consequence (described here as leading to Naraka).
In the Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma. Here he emphasizes social-ethical prohibitions: harming or hindering the well-being of protected groups—religious teachers/learned persons, cows as a basis of livelihood, and young women under guardianship—is condemned as a serious moral offense.
