mṛtyuḥ provāca rudrebhyo rudrebhyas taṇḍim āgamat | mahatā tapasā prāptas taṇḍinā brahmaloke ||
True instruction is preserved and empowered through disciplined transmission (paramparā) and is authentically gained through tapas—inner restraint, perseverance, and spiritual effort—rather than through mere authority or inheritance.
Vāyu recounts a chain of transmission: Mṛtyu instructs the eleven Rudras; from them the teaching reaches Taṇḍi; and Taṇḍi attains it in Brahmaloka by performing great austerities, highlighting both lineage and personal effort.
