Anuśāsana-parva 17

योगिनामपि यो योगी कारणानां च कारणम्‌ | यतो लोका: सम्भवन्ति न भवन्ति यत: पुन:

yoginām api yo yogī kāraṇānāṃ ca kāraṇam | yato lokāḥ sambhavanti na bhavanti yataḥ punaḥ ||

قال فايُو: «هو اليوغيُّ الأعلى حتى بين اليوغيين، وهو العلّةُ القصوى وراء كل علّة—منه تنشأ العوالم وإليه تعود فتفنى من جديد. فاسمع مني الأسماءَ الألفَ والثمانية للرب شِيفا، ذاتِ جميع الكائنات، ذي البهاء الذي لا يُقاس. يا خيرَ الرجال، بمجرد الإصغاء إلى هذا تنالُ تمامَ كل رغباتك.»

The verse presents Śiva as the supreme principle: the highest yogin and the ultimate cause from whom creation proceeds and into whom it dissolves. It also emphasizes the religious efficacy of śravaṇa (listening) to the divine names as a means to attain desired ends and spiritual merit.
