इत्येते द्वादशादित्या: काश्यपेया इति श्रुति: । वेदके शतरुद्रिय प्रकरणमें महात्मा रुद्रके सैकड़ों नाम बताये गये हैं। अंश
ity ete dvādaśādityāḥ kāśyapeyā iti śrutiḥ |
قال بهيشما: «هكذا هؤلاء هم الآديتيا الاثنا عشر؛ وتُعلن الشروتي (śruti، التقليد الموحى) أنهم أبناء كاشيابا.» وفي هذا السياق تُدرِج التعاليمُ آلهةَ الشمس في نسبٍ مقدّس، مؤكدةً أن نظام الكون يقوم على سلالاتٍ إلهيةٍ معترفٍ بها وعلى وحيٍ ذي سلطان.
