Adhyāya 152 — Bhīṣma’s Authorization for Yudhiṣṭhira’s Return to the Capital (नगरप्रवेशानुज्ञा)
bhīṣma uvāca | ity uktaḥ sa tu deveśaḥ pratipūjya gireḥ sutām | lokān visarjayāmāsa sarvair anucaraiḥ vṛtān |
The verse highlights dharmic etiquette: when a righteous teaching is delivered, it is to be received with honor (pratipūjā), and the gathering concludes with respectful dismissal and obeisance—showing that ethical instruction is framed by humility, gratitude, and orderly conduct.
After Pārvatī has described strīdharma, Śiva (the Lord of gods) honors her and then dismisses the assembled beings who had come with their attendants; the various divine and semi-divine groups bow to Śaṅkara and return to their respective realms.
