Adhyāya 152 — Bhīṣma’s Authorization for Yudhiṣṭhira’s Return to the Capital (नगरप्रवेशानुज्ञा)
aditiḥ kaśyapasyātha sarvāstāḥ patidevatāḥ | pṛṣṭāśnupāsitāścaiva tāstvayā devi nityaśaḥ ||
The verse upholds the ideal of pativratā-dharma: exemplary women are portrayed as treating devotion to the husband as a sacred duty, and the Goddess is praised for learning dharma through respectful inquiry and service to such exemplars.
Maheśvara addresses the Goddess, noting that she has regularly associated with and honored devoted wives—especially Aditi, Kaśyapa’s wife—and has asked them about righteous conduct, framing her conduct as disciplined learning through virtuous company.
