Discerning Dharma in Accord with Time
True righteousness includes restraint at the level of intention: even when one could easily take or violate another’s unattended property, a virtuous person does not harm it even in thought. Such inner integrity is praised as leading to Svarga.
Śrī Maheśvara states a moral criterion: encountering someone else’s goods in an isolated place becomes a test of character. Those who refrain from any harmful or covetous impulse are described as heaven-bound.
