A householder should sustain a disciplined life of scriptural study and daily svādhyāya, but should avoid turning learning into a profit-driven occupation; knowledge is to be practiced as dharma, not traded as a commodity.
Śrī Maheśvara is instructing on right conduct (anuśāsana) for householders, emphasizing regular study and inner discipline while warning against using sacred learning merely for earning a living.
