Sāma (Sāntva) and Dāna: The Brāhmaṇa’s Conciliatory Release from a Rākṣasa
भवतो भावितात्मत्वाल्लाभो<यं सुमहान् मम । भूयो बुद्ध्यानुपश्यामि सुसमृद्धतपा इव
bhavato bhāvitātmatvāl lābho ’yaṃ sumahān mama | bhūyo buddhyānupaśyāmi susamṛddhatapā iva ||
قال مايتريا: «لأن ذاتك الباطنة قد صُقِلَت وأُحكِمَ تهذيبُها، صار هذا لي مكسبًا عظيمًا. ثم إني، بفهمٍ أوضح من ذي قبل، أراك مرةً أخرى كمن اكتملت له الزهادة والانضباط الروحي اكتمالًا وافرًا.»
मैत्रेय उवाच
Inner cultivation (bhāvitātmatva) and mature discipline (tapas) make a person truly worthy of reverence; such refinement benefits others by granting them clarity, confidence, and moral-spiritual insight.
Maitreya addresses the person before him with respect, saying that the encounter has been a great benefit to him; he recognizes, with renewed discernment, the other’s accomplished austerity and inner refinement.
