उपवासफलात्मकविधिः — Upavāsa as Yajña-Equivalent Merit

मार्गशीर्ष तु यो मासमेकभक्तेन संक्षिपेत्‌

mārgaśīrṣa tu yo māsam ekabhaktena saṁkṣipet

قال أنْغِيرى: «مَن أمضى شهرَ مارجَشِيرْشَة مكتفيًا بوجبةٍ واحدةٍ في اليوم، فقد التزم كبحَ الشهوة إلى الطعام على وجهٍ منضبط؛ وهو مذكورٌ هنا بوصفه نذرًا ذا أجر، يدرّب على ضبط النفس ويعضد العيشَ على نهج الدَّرما.»
