Ādi-parva Adhyāya 97: Satyavatī’s appeal and Bhīṣma’s reaffirmation of satya
न सम्पत्स्यति मर्त्येषु पुनस्तस्य तु संततिः । तस्मादतपुत्र: पुत्रस्ते भविष्यति स वीर्यवान्,किंतु मर्त्पलोकमें उसकी कोई संतान न होगी। अतः तुम्हारा वह पुत्र संतानहीन होनेके साथ ही अत्यन्त पराक्रमी होगा
na sampatsyati martyeṣu punas tasya tu santatiḥ | tasmād ataputraḥ putras te bhaviṣyati sa vīryavān |
قال فَيْشَمْبايَنَة: «لن يستمرَّ نسلُه بين البشر مرةً أخرى. لذلك سيكون ابنُكِ بلا ذرية، غير أنه سيكون عظيمَ البأس شديدَ الشكيمة.»
