वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even when one gains wealth, status, and advantageous alliances, one should remain bound by dharma: honoring the giver/teacher, acting with propriety, and taking respectful leave. Prosperity is shown as legitimate when received under rightful authority and accompanied by gratitude and restraint.
After arrangements made by Śukra, King Yayāti receives Devayānī as wife along with Śarmiṣṭhā and a large retinue of maidens and wealth. He is honored among the Daityas, takes Śukra’s permission, and then returns joyfully to his capital.
