King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt
सात्यकि: कृतवर्मा च नारायणमनुव्रतौ । सत्यकाद् हृदिकाच्चैव जज्ञाते<स्त्रविशारदौ,सत्यकसे सात्यकि और हृदिकसे कृतवर्माका जन्म हुआ था। वे दोनों अस्त्रविद्यामें अत्यन्त निपुण और भगवान् श्रीकृष्णके अनुगामी थे
sātyakiḥ kṛtavarmā ca nārāyaṇam anuvratau | satyakād hṛdikāccaiva jajñāte 'straviśāradau ||
قال دَاشا: إن ساتْيَكي وكِرْتَفَرْما—وكلاهما ثابتٌ على اتّباع نارايَنا—وُلِدا على الترتيب من ساتْيَكا ومن هْرِدِكا. وكان كلٌّ منهما بالغَ الإتقان في علم السلاح، وتُصوَّر بأسُهما هنا منسوجًا مع التعبّد والانضباط في الولاء، لا مجرّد مهارةٍ قتالية.
दाश उवाच
The verse links kṣātra prowess (mastery of weapons) with disciplined devotion: true excellence is not only technical skill but also steadfast alignment with Nārāyaṇa, suggesting that power gains ethical direction through loyal adherence to a higher dharmic ideal.
The speaker (Dāśa) briefly identifies the parentage and qualities of two notable warriors—Sātyaki (born of Satyaka) and Kṛtavarmā (born of Hṛdika)—emphasizing both their expertise in arms and their status as devoted followers of Nārāyaṇa.
