The verse underscores reverent remembrance (kīrtana) of divine figures and origins: sacred histories of Śiva, Pārvatī, and Kārtikeya are presented as worthy of praise and as part of the epic’s moral-cosmic framework, reminding listeners that human events unfold within a larger divine order.
Vaiśampāyana is describing the contents of the account being narrated: it includes praise/mention of Śiva and the Goddess, and it also contains the episode of Kārtikeya’s birth—characterized here as involving ‘many mothers’—signposting a well-known mythic section embedded within the broader Adi Parva narration.
