वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights an ethical ideal for social harmony: undertaking one’s allotted residence and duty without matsara (envy/resentment). Freedom from jealousy is presented as a prerequisite for peaceful coexistence and rightful settlement.
An instruction is given to go and reside at Khāṇḍavaprastha. Obeying the directive of “those two” (contextually, the authoritative decision-makers in the episode), the group sets out, accompanied by their friends and well-wishers.
