Inquiry into Parīkṣit’s Conduct and the Beginnings of His Downfall
athavāpi samagreṇa tarantu tapasā mama | bhavantaḥ sarva eveha kāmam evaṁ vidhīyatām ||
The verse highlights the ethical use of spiritual power (tapas): one may offer one’s accumulated merit or ascetic potency for the welfare of others, while still respecting their choice—“as you please.”
Takṣaka speaks in a moment of danger, proposing that if his full ascetic power can help the others overcome the immediate संकट (peril), they should proceed accordingly; he frames it as an available means of rescue and leaves the decision to them.
