Ādi-parva Adhyāya 33: Vāsuki’s Council on Averting the Sarpa-satra
śaunaka uvāca | uvāca cainaṃ bhūyo 'pi nārāyaṇam idaṃ vacaḥ | ajaraś cāmaraś ca sthāmaṃ ṛtena vinā 'py aham |
The verse highlights the idea that true imperishability is sought through divine sanction rather than merely through a material means like amṛta; it frames immortality as dependent on the Lord’s will and grace.
Śaunaka addresses Nārāyaṇa again and petitions for a boon: to become ageless and deathless even without drinking the nectar of immortality.
