Varuṇa’s Bestowal of the Gāṇḍīva and the Arming of Kṛṣṇa–Arjuna
Khāṇḍava Prelude
तानि सर्वाणि तीर्थानि ततः प्रभृति चैव ह | नारीतीर्थानि नाम्नेह ख्यातिं यास्यन्ति सर्वश: । पुण्यानि च भविष्यन्ति पावनानि मनीषिणाम्,तुमलोगोंका उद्धार हो जानेके बाद वे सभी तीर्थ इस जगतमें नारीतीर्थके नामसे विख्यात होंगे और मनीषी पुरुषोंको भी पवित्र करनेवाले पुण्यतीर्थ बन जायँगे
tāni sarvāṇi tīrthāni tataḥ prabhṛti caiva ha | nārītīrthāni nāmneha khyātiṃ yāsyanti sarvaśaḥ | puṇyāni ca bhaviṣyanti pāvanāni manīṣiṇām |
«ومن ذلك الحين فصاعدًا ستغدو تلك المخاضات المقدّسة كلّها مشهورة في هذا العالم باسم “تيرثات النساء”. وستصير أيضًا مواطنَ حجٍّ ذاتَ أجر، مطهِّرةً حتى لأهل الحكمة والبصيرة.»
ब्राह्मण उवाच
Sacred places gain enduring sanctity through righteous events and become sources of purification and merit for all—so much so that they can be remembered and honored under a distinctive name that preserves the moral significance of what occurred there.
A brāhmaṇa declares a future outcome: the set of tīrthas being discussed will henceforth be celebrated throughout the world as ‘Women’s Tīrthas’ and will function as especially meritorious, purifying pilgrimage sites even for wise sages.
