Ādi-parva Adhyāya 209: Śaraṇāgati of the Cursed Apsarases; Nārītīrtha-prasiddhi; Arjuna’s Vimocana

ताविन्द्रलोक॑ निर्जित्य यक्षरक्षोगणांस्तदा | खेचराण्यपि भूतानि जष्नतुस्तीतव्रविक्रमौ,इस प्रकार इन्द्रलोकपर विजय पाकर वे तीव्रपराक्रमी दैत्य यक्षों, राक्षसों तथा अन्यान्य आकाशचारी भूतोंको मारने और पीड़ा देने लगे

tāv indralokaṁ nirjitya yakṣa-rakṣo-gaṇāṁs tadā | khecarāṇy api bhūtāni jaṣṇatus tīvra-vikramau ||

فلما قهرا عالم إندرا، شرع الاثنان—وهما شديدا البأس—في قتل جموع الياكشا والراكشاس وتعذيبهم، بل وأذيا كذلك سائر الكائنات التي تجوب السماء. وتُبرز الحكاية أن النصر إذا اندفع بعدوانٍ لا كابح له انقلب إلى قهرٍ وظلم، فيغدو مذموماً أخلاقياً وإن تحقق به الظفر الحربي.
