Tīrtha-Sevana and the Cursed Apsaras
Grāha-Encounter at Saubhadra Tīrtha
लब्ध्वा वराणि दैत्येन्द्रावथ तौ भ्रातरावुभौ | अवध्यौ सर्वलोकस्य स्वमेव भवनं गतौ,फिर वे दोनों भाई दैत्यराज सुन्द और उपसुन्द यह अभीष्ट वर पाकर सम्पूर्ण लोकोंके लिये अवध्य हो पुनः अपने घरको ही लौट गये
labdhvā varāṇi daityendrāv atha tau bhrātarāv ubhau | avadhyau sarvalokasya svam eva bhavanaṁ gatau ||
قال نارادا: لما نال الأخوان—وهما سُند وأُبسُند، سيدا الدانافا—المنح التي اشتهياها، صارا عصيَّين على القتل أمام العوالم كلها؛ ثم رجعا إلى مسكنهما الخاص.
नारद उवाच
The verse highlights a recurring Mahābhārata theme: boons and extraordinary power, when not guided by dharma, can remove natural checks on behavior and become a precondition for arrogance and widespread harm.
Nārada narrates that the demon-brothers Sunda and Upasunda receive their desired boons, become invulnerable to all beings across the worlds, and then return to their home—setting up the next phase of their actions.
