वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic kingship through two ideals: ensuring the welfare (kuśala) of guests and extending proper honour (pūjā) to worthy persons. Ethical order is shown not by conquest but by correct social conduct—truthful reporting, safe refuge, and respectful reception.
After the decisive selection at the marriage event, Vidura conveys news that the Pāṇḍavas—now ‘chosen’—are all safe and are being honoured by King Drupada, indicating their secure and respected stay in Drupada’s domain.
