Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the extraordinary power of tapas and saṁskāra: spiritual discipline and Vedic culture are portrayed as so potent that learning and refinement can begin even before birth, emphasizing reverence for knowledge, lineage-responsibility, and the sanctity of Vedic study.

Adṛśyantī informs the sage Vasiṣṭha that she is carrying the child of his son Śakti, and that the unborn child has remained in her womb for twelve years, engaged in Vedic study—an omen of an exceptional birth and a significant continuation of Vasiṣṭha’s line.
