द्रौपदी-स्वयंवर-प्रारम्भः
Commencement of Draupadī’s Svayaṃvara
स समुद्रोर्मिवेगेन स्थले न्यस्तो महामुनि: । न ममार यदा विप्र: कथंचित् संशितव्रत: । जगाम स ततः खिन्नः पुनरेवाश्रमं प्रति,परंतु समुद्रकी लहरोंके वेगने उन महामुनिको किनारे लाकर डाल दिया। कठोर व्रतका पालन करनेवाले ब्रह्मर्षि वसिष्ठ जब किसी प्रकार न मर सके, तब खिन्न होकर अपने आश्रमपर ही लौट पड़े
sa samudrormivegena sthale nyasto mahāmuniḥ | na mamāra yadā vipraḥ kathaṃcit saṃśitavrataḥ | jagāma sa tataḥ khinnaḥ punar evāśramaṃ prati ||
غير أنّ أمواج البحر بقوتها دفعت ذلك الحكيم العظيم حتى أُلقي على اليابسة. ولما لم يستطع ذلك البراهمن الملتزم بالنذور الشديدة—فَسِشْتَه—أن يموت بأي وسيلة، اعتراه الإعياء والانكسار، ثم عاد مرةً أخرى إلى صومعته.
