Commencement of Draupadī’s Svayaṃvara
sa tu śaptas tadā tena śaktinā vai nṛpottamaḥ | jagāma śaraṇaṃ śaktiṃ prasādayitum arhayan |
When confronted with the consequences of wrongdoing or a righteous curse, the dharmic response is humility and seeking reconciliation—propitiating the offended sage rather than reacting with pride or violence.
After being cursed by the sage Śakti, the king (described as nṛpottama, and in context Kalmāṣapāda) goes to Śakti for refuge, intending to appease him and obtain his favor.
