Cause of Kalmāṣapāda’s Niyoga under a Curse
ततः सराष्ट्रं मुमुदे तत् पुरं परया मुदा । तेन पार्थिवमुख्येन भावितं भावितात्मना,तबसे शुद्ध अन्तःकरणवाले नृपश्रेष्ठ संवरणके द्वारा पालित सब लोग प्रसन्न रहने लगे। उस राज्य और नगरमें बड़ा आनन्द छा गया
tataḥ sarāṣṭraṃ mumude tat puraṃ parayā mudā | tena pārthivamukhyena bhāvitaṃ bhāvitātmanā ||
عندئذٍ ابتهجت المملكة بأسرها، وامتلأت المدينة بأقصى الفرح. فقد رعاها وقادها أكرم الملوك—سَمْوَرَنَة—وقد طهّر باطنه وهذّبه بالتقشّف؛ لذلك عاش الناس في كنف حمايته راضين مطمئنين.
वसिष्ठ उवाच
A ruler whose inner self is disciplined and purified (bhāvitātman) becomes a source of public welfare: when governance is grounded in self-control and ethical cultivation, the kingdom and city naturally flourish in peace and joy.
Vasiṣṭha describes the effect of King Saṃvaraṇa’s rule: the entire realm and its capital rejoice, because the king—foremost among rulers—protects and nurtures the people, bringing widespread contentment and celebration.
