ततस्तप्तुमथारेभे पत्यर्थमसुखा ततः । तोषयामास तपसा सा किलोग्रेण शंकरम्,तब पतिके लिये दुःखी होकर उसने तपस्या प्रारम्भ की और कहते हैं उग्र तपस्याके द्वारा उसने भगवान् शंकरको प्रसन्न कर लिया
tatas taptum athārebhe paty-artham asukhā tataḥ | toṣayāmāsa tapasā sā kilogreṇa śaṅkaram ||
ثم إنها، وقد ضاقت لعدم الزوج وتاقت إلى زوج، شرعت في ممارسة التقشّف. وبذلك النسك الشديد—كما يُروى—أرضت شانكَرا (شيفا).
व्यास उवाच
Focused, disciplined tapas undertaken with a clear intention can purify resolve and attract divine favor; the verse highlights perseverance and devotion as means to attain a righteous life-goal (here, marriage).
Vyāsa narrates that a woman, sorrowful and seeking a husband, begins severe austerities and, through that intense practice, succeeds in pleasing Śiva (Śaṅkara).
