Adhyāya 123 — Droṇa’s Pedagogy: Arjuna’s Preeminence, Ekalavya’s Self-Training, and the Bhāsa-Lakṣya Trial
जामदग्न्यसम: कुन्ति विष्णुतुल्यपराक्रम: । एष वीर्यवतां श्रेष्ठो भविष्यति महायशा:,'कुन्ती! यह परशुरामके समान वीर योद्धा, भगवान् विष्णुके समान पराक्रमी, बलवानोंमें श्रेष्ठ और महान् यशस्वी होगा
jāmadagnyasamaḥ kunti viṣṇutulyaparākramaḥ | eṣa vīryavatāṃ śreṣṭho bhaviṣyati mahāyaśāḥ ||
قال فايشَمبايانا: «يا كُنتي، إنّ هذا سيكون بطلاً يماثل جامَدَغنيا (باراشوراما)، وتكون له بأسٌ كَبأسِ فيشنو. وسيغدو أسبقَ الأقوياء، ذا صيتٍ عظيم».
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the epic ideal of exceptional vīrya (heroic potency) and parākrama (prowess), presenting greatness as a destined capacity that brings fame and influence—qualities that must later be aligned with dharma to avoid destructive outcomes.
Vaiśampāyana addresses Kuntī with a prediction about a particular figure’s future: he will match Paraśurāma in warriorly might and resemble Viṣṇu in power, becoming the foremost among the strong and widely celebrated.
