FAQs

It frames the chapter’s focus: the sages confirm they have received authoritative teaching on Liṅga-pratiṣṭhā (consecration), Liṅga-sthāpana (installation), and the recognized types of Liṅgas—establishing ritual worship as a merit-bearing Shaiva dharma.

By centering the Liṅga as the object of consecration and worship, the verse points to Śiva as Pati (the Lord) who is approached through a sanctified emblem; the teaching context implies that right knowledge and right rite orient the pashu (bound soul) toward Śiva’s grace.

Ritualistically, it highlights Liṅga-sthāpana and Liṅga-pratiṣṭhā as core Śaiva practices. Yogically, it implies disciplined devotion (bhakti with vidhi) that supports purification from pāśa (bondage), consistent with Pāśupata-oriented Shaiva sādhanā.
