Adhyaya 72 — Puradāha: Rudra’s Cosmic Chariot, Pāśupata-Vrata, and Brahmā’s Shiva-Stuti
भक्ष्यभोज्यादिभिश्चैव उण्डरैश्चैव मोदकैः अब्रुवंस्ते गणेशानं निर्विघ्नं चास्तु नः सदा
bhakṣyabhojyādibhiścaiva uṇḍaraiścaiva modakaiḥ abruvaṃste gaṇeśānaṃ nirvighnaṃ cāstu naḥ sadā
وقدّموا له شتّى الأطعمة واللذائذ—الحلوى والكعك والمودَكا—ثم خاطب أولئك الأتباعُ غانيشا قائلين: «ليكن طريقُنا دائماً بلا عوائق».
Suta (narrating; reporting the action/speech of Shiva’s Gaṇas)
It establishes the customary Shaiva principle that successful liṅga-pūjā and sādhana begin with invoking Gaṇeśa as Vighneśvara, offering naivedya and seeking “nirvighna” continuity of worship.
By portraying Gaṇeśa as “Gaṇeśāna” within Shiva’s gaṇa-mandala, it reflects Shiva-tattva as Pati—the sovereign order that subdues vighnas (impediments) so the paśu (soul) may proceed toward liberation.
A simple pūjā-vidhi element: offering sweet naivedya (modaka, confections) with a nirvighna-prārthanā, aligning outer ritual with inner steadiness required for Pāśupata-oriented practice.
