It anchors Linga Purana teaching in an authenticated rishi-paramparā: the remembrance of Ātreya branches implies that Shiva-upāsanā and related rites are transmitted through recognized sage lineages rather than private invention.
Indirectly, it presents Shiva-tattva as preserved through mahātman sages and their branches—suggesting that knowledge of Pati (Shiva) and the release of the paśu from pāśa is safeguarded by lineage-based revelation and instruction.
No single rite is specified; the emphasis is on paramparā as the vehicle for practices like Pāśupata-yoga and Śiva-pūjā-vidhi, which are traditionally taught through established rishi branches.
